Botox® Experiences - Angelia Kwok
I just had my umpteenth Botox session, so I thought I'd post the latest experience. In the past, I've had several mess-ups, with one eye half-closed for several weeks or too much blockage causing a lop-sided face. It was a learning experience and the mess-ups were all due to the fact that Botox is not an exact science. Dosages have to be adjusted and best injection sites need to be determined. The other problem is that the effect of the Botox changes with time.
In the past 2 years, my HFS has been working itself downward so that my mouth is twitching quite a bit now. A year ago, one doctor tried to Botox my cheek (bad idea) and I became unrecognizable. I have now settled into a good routine with an Opthamologist- turned - plastic surgeon. Six days after the Botox, the eye finally stopped squinting and twitching. He gave me an extra shot this time on the side of the nose, thinking that would help my upper lip, but that has not seemed to do anything. I had been holding out since my previous Botox, because I was considering MVD, but it finally got to me and I decided to give Botox another go. Two weeks ago, it was so bad that I didn't want to leave the house, for fear of having to talk to anyone or look at anyone. Today, my confidence is up and I can go out again. My mouth twitches on occasion, but I can cover that up by smiling. I have to say that Botox IS very helpful, but you have to make sure you get the right person to administer it and you need to keep records of exactly how much is given and exactly where the injections are done around the eye. That way you can adjust accordingly and each Botox experience should be better.
For details of my MVD surgeries see my MVD Diary's.
