Botox® Experiences - Dianna W. Robbins

I started Botox® shots when my eye first started twitching in the later part of 1999. It helped then, but only lasted 6 to 8 weeks. Every 2 to 3 months I would go back and get more shots. When the twitching and drawing started in my face and mouth, I got more shots. Sometimes I would get 8 to 10 shots in one visit. The worse the condition got the less the Botox® worked.

Many times they would leave me with a limp eye, face and mouth. At one point I couldn't even move the left side of my mouth for several months.

I stopped taking the Botox® shots in June of 2001. Not at any time during all of these shots did the Doctor suspect that I had HFS. I didn't even know what Hemifacial spasms were.

In June of 2002, I went back to my family Doctor, who suspected I had a problem with nerve compression, and he sent me to Dr. K. Singh Sahni in Richmond, Va.

I had my MVD surgery on September 09, 2002 with Dr. K. Singh Sahni at Johnson Willis Hospital, Richmond, VA. and am "SPASM FREE".

I am told I will recover 100%, but it is going to take longer than normal because of the Botox® shots.
