Botox® Experiences - Grace Miller

My initial Botox® treatment seemed to help some. It took about five days before I could tell any difference. It lessened the severity and frequency of the spasms but it gave my face a "frozen look". I lost control of the left side of my face, so that when I tried to smile, it gave me a contorted look.

I received the 2nd treatment four months after the first. The experience was not so pleasant this time because a resident who was trying to get some experience gave it to me under the supervision of the doctor. It hurt and I was in tears after the procedure. It also left bruises where he injected me. It also took some time before I could feel the effects. This time the effects took longer to take place and did not last as long. I was having spasms after two months.

They increased the dosage on my third appointment without much improvement.

I went again one more time four months after the 3rd injection and this time, the spasms continued. The Botox® made the left side of my face weak but did not control the spasms. I was on Botox® for fifteen months and decided that it was not for me anymore.

I still have the spasms; I guess I'll just have to learn to live with it. Meanwhile, I will try to find out as much as I can about MVD, and if Tricare Standard will cover it.
