spasms around the eye and then it gradually affected the entire left side of my face and neck muscles.

Botox Comments:
After 6 years of receiving botox every 3 months, I had MVD surgery in Calgary with Dr Zelma Kiss which was not successful. I continued 3 more years on Botox until I became quite sensitive to the botox and started experiencing the opposite effect. Due to this, I was disabled for 2-4 weeks every 3 months until the botox would wear off a bit. Experienced stroke-like symptoms and had to drink through a straw and patch my eye to keep the cornea from drying out.

My first MVD with Dr Zelma Kiss in Calgary Foothills Hospital was unsuccessful. My second MVD with Dr. Anthony Kaufmann, (Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg, MB) was successful. Dr. Kaufmann also found a .5mm aneurisym that had formed after first surgery. He moved my swallowing nerve and vocal chords to clip it. His concern would be that I would have problems swallowing for the rest of my life. Happy to report that 3 months after surgery my swallowing returned to almost 100%.
