Treatment History
Symptoms Experienced:
Left eye tic started slowly and later progressed with much movement affecting the left cheek and gradually moved toward the lip area. Smiling or sudden change of emotions (especially when stressed) helped trigger the movement around the eye and cheek area. I also experienced intense headaches and sometimes migraine attacks.
Medications Tried: When the spasms reached the cheek area, I tried taking Tegretol 200 mg. I only used it less than 3 months. My condition improved for the past 16 months. However, when the twitching came back, intensity and frequency doubled. The attacks are longer compared to before taking the medication. I am now back to Tegretol, haven't seen any improvement yet.

I don't want to try Botox as it also wears out in about 3 months. My doctor discourages me from Botox because of other meds. I'm currently taking.

I'm having second thoughts on trying oral medication as this would result to a constant increase in dosage and yet it would not really ease the spasms.(note: this was before i tried taking tegretol)
